5 ways to apply blush for different face shapes

Blush is becoming increasingly popular as a beauty must have as it flatters the face when perfectly applied.

Blush helps add colours to the face (colours that are meant to flatter the skin tone as well as define the face) as well as contour and illuminate the entire face.

To get the most flattering and defined/precise application, it's best to determine your face shape to know what application technique works best and this can only be nailed by constant practise.

The directions below work best to guide application for different face shape.

1. Long Face Shape

Brush blush onto the apples of the cheek towards the ear to widen the face.

2. Oval Face Shape

Apply blush to the apples of cheek and sweep upwards for a natural look. Avoid using blush under your cheekbones as this is where contouring should be

3. Square Face Shape

Apply blush directly to the apples of the cheeks to soften the angles of the face. For square face shape, apply blush on the apples only and blend outwards for a soft look.

4. Heart Face Shape

Apply blush under the apples of cheeks and sweep upwards to soften the chin.

5. Round Face Shape

Apply blush along cheekbones and sweep upwards to make face appear slimmer. On round face shape, use blush close to but not quite under the cheekbone.
