Teenager appears in court for allegedly raping 14-year-old girl

The accused was arraigned in court for a one-count-charge of alleged rape.

The accused, an apprentice, who lives at Arobaba Street, Ikotun, a suburb of Lagos, was arraigned in court for a one-count-charge of alleged rape.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the Adewunmi committed the offence on Nov. 2  when he raped a 14-year-old girl in his room.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.Osunsanmi adjourned the case to Jan. 17, 2017 for mention.
