Anyone Who Eats Ebola Money Will Go To Jail, Minister Says

Liberia’s Acting Minister for Finance and Development Planning, Amara M. Konneh has warned that any one who "eats" money meant for the fight against Ebola will be imprisoned

Liberia’s Acting Minister for Finance and Development Planning, Amara M. Konneh has reportedly warned all persons in charge of funds to be used in fighting Ebola in the country to ensure that there’s no misappropriation.

According to the Liberian Daily Observer, Konneh said:

“But let me say this to those of you receiving money to fight Ebola, when you eat Ebola money, you will go to jail.”

The minister also stated that the Liberian government would cut “wasteful spending” and redirect such funding to Ebola treatment centers around the country.

Konneh further urged those handling the funds to ensure that they practiced proper accountability in order to ensure that all sick patients got the “best care possible.”

Liberia has suffered the most casualties in the current Ebola outbreak which ahs claimed over 1800 lives from the country alone.
