MI Abaga

The talent manager started his journey in the music industry in 2008 and in celebration of a decade of success and fulfilling experiences, he is starting a podcast, "10 Years A Learner."

Speaking on how he discovered his calling, Godwin Tom shares this statement,

"In September 2008, I got a call from a friend (she managed female rap sensation, Kel, at the time) and she asked me if I was still feeling bored at work. I said I just wanted to be challenged.

To cut a long story short, after my 2nd meeting with MI on the 21st of September 2008... I walked into my office the next day and quit my job... It would take another month before I could leave. On the 22nd of October, 2008, I began my journey as a talent manager.

I was lucky... my first client was and is still one of the best rap artists out of Africa!

In the last 10 years, I have been blessed and lucky to work with some of the best in the game such as and many others.

Two years ago, I realised that I had spent eight years building a career but I had not built a business. That forced me to ask so many more questions and the more information I found, the more I wanted to share it with younger people to make sure they avoid make the same mistakes...

That was when I started my workshops and visited Abuja, Uyo, Ibadan, Kampala and Accra. I have also held free workshops and internship programs as well as training programs for young and aspiring managers.

To celebrate my 10th year as a talent manager, I am starting my year long, 10 Years A Learner Campaign, which will feature a series of activities including a podcast, a tour and the launch of a book titled "10 Years A Learner".

This campaign is a human resource development drive for the African entertainment industry and I am happy to get people who are willing to support the movement. For now, we are focused on the first episode of the podcast which will feature my first client MI Abaga.

It will be shot at the Silverbird Galleria on the 22nd of October 2018 from 6pm... I am very nervous and excited at the same time. I hope to see you there!" he concludes.
