Soul singer is seriously ill as her loved ones rally around her bedside

According to emanating records, Aretha Franklin has fallen gravely ill, with her family and loved ones gathered around her.

According to a post by Showbiz 411, “Aretha is surrounded by family and people close to her” in Detroit and “the family is asking for prayers and privacy”.

A number of reporters and celebrities has also taken to their social media pages, confirming the reports and to send prayers and well wishes to the Queen of soul.

In November 2017, there were rumors that she had passed away, but she refuted those speculations with the release of a statement to US Weekly.

“I’m doing well generally, all test have come back good.” she said.

“I’ve lost a lot of weight due to side effects of medicine, it affects your weight … Thanks for your concern,” her mail read.

On Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin, 76, has not performed in public since November last year and cancelled two concerts scheduled for April and March this year on the orders of her doctors.

The singer who announced her retirement last year released her first album in 1956, has over 20 number one singles in the US, winning the Grammy for Best R&B vocal performance for eight years running [1968 to 1975].

The 18-time Grammy winner who underwent a surgery in 2010 has now been visited by family and loved ones at the Detroit hospital where she is admitted.
