OAP dedicates poem to late father, Segun Bucknor

The bond shared between father and daughter is obviously very strong as is shown in the post she has shared.

A veteran Nigerian musician, Segun Bucknor, who was also a journalist in the 60s and 70s passed away, Friday, August 11, 2017.

The OAP took to her Instagram page to gush over her "superhero," and even wrote a poem in his honour.

Sharing a photo collage of herself and her dad, she wrote:

On another post, she shared a sweet photo of herself and her dad, with the caption: "The first superhero i ever knew..Was called dad."

Segun Bucknor's death was confirmed by his daughter Funke Bucknor-Obruthe.  "Wow my condolence my brother , I just lost my dad today as well . May God comfort us all" she wrote today on the Facebook post of a friend Abiola Olatunde Aloba whose mother recently passed away.

Strut Records, an international record label based in London, Berlin and Brooklyn has tweeted on the passing of Segun Bucknor.

"We're hearing the very sad news that the mighty Segun Bucknor has passed away this morning. Our thoughts are with his family and friends" tweeted Strut Records three hours ago.

Segun Bucknor was popular for his soul music, including critically acclaimed records such as ‘Adebo,’ ‘Poor Man No Get Brother’, ‘Sorrow Sorrow Sorrow,’ and “Son Of January 15th” (which was created to mark the day in 1966 when Nigeria’s prime minister, Tafawa Balewa was killed in a military coup).
