Rapper overtaken by online distractions

Great Nigerian rapper M.I Abaga spends time shooting down critics while his celeb status suffers.

MI in everything video shoot

With such a glittering career one wonders why M.I has dedicated a lot of energy in answering his detractors online especially on Twitter. Apart from being a rapper, he is also the head of Chocolate City Music with many artistes under him.

With much on his plate in terms of running a label, keeping all the artistes happy and making sure he stays relevant it is kind of surprising to see M.I jump on Twitter to defend his legacy and achievement. His music speaks for him.

Two days ago M.I strangely went to Twitter and boldly proclaimed that his Illegal Music 2 mixtape is better than most of the projects dropped by American rappers recently. It is his opinion but of course this caused a little ruckus on Twitter which is still going on right now.

Yesterday (February 29) M.I released his third mixtape "". Today popular OAP Osi Suave joined in on the conversation and stated that American rapper J. Cole is a way better than M.I. The rapper saw the tweet and clapped back at him.

"So u r saying its disrespectful to J Cole to be compared to me??  Question.. R u as good as charlagmene as n OAP?" fired back M.I. This is a highlight of how M.I dedicates his time to fend off criticism. If this was at the beginning of his career it would have made sense for him to shoot his haters online, but M.I is not a newbie. He is a seasoned vet. He knows the game well, and shouldn't be pulled into arguements. M.I should let his music do the talking.

Unfortunately his music has been consumed with defending his greatness and legacy. His new mixtape Illegal Music 3 sees him trying to prove his greatness. We already know he his great and he he should be bothered about creating timeless music instead.

M.I's spare time should be geared into him being a bigger celebrity. M.I's music in general far outweighs his celebrity status. There is a feeling that M.I as a celeb is not on the same level as his music. His former protege Ice Prince doesn't make the type of music M.I makes but he is a bigger celeb. M.I's celebrity status is low, he needs to beef it up. Focusing on trolls is not the way to increase his celeb status.

M.I is a great musician but not as big celebrity wise. His focus is now on social media critics, and it shouldn't be so.
