An actress with a political voice

Nollywood actress has started becoming vocal about her political beliefs and thoughts.

Georgina Onuoha

In previous posts about the Buhari administration she had this to say “How do you fight corruption or corrupt system that you helped create in 1983? When you overthrew a democratically elected government? # Why are we so dumb to believe same old fraudsters and con artist?”

“Nigeria deregulates downstream oil sector, petrol to sell for about N145 a litre from 87 naira.#change you voted for #Change you believed in #Civil servants not paid in months #Inflationrising #No wage increase #No electricity #No fuel/gas in an oil producing country # And the youths are silent #My Frozen generation #My tribalist country #Innocent citizens dying in North-East #When do we begin to tell ourselves the honest truth?” she further said.

Georgina Onuoha isn’t one to hold back her tongue that’s for sure. Her political views are as ‘colourful’ as her life. In March 2016, the actress opened up about an undisclosed illness that she has been dealing with for the past 8 years.

“Thank you Lord for your healing and saving hands upon my life. Each day I wake up, my life will continuously be a testimony of your grace and love” wrote the actress after undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Apart from that, the crash of her marriage was in the spotlight last year. “It has taken almost four years to do this; it’s taken a lot of soul searching, prayers and counseling to get to this juncture. It’s not a breaking news that my almost a decade relationship is over” she wrote in her statement about the end of the marriage.

While Georgina Onuoha has had a few newsworthy moments her political inclination is surely to bring a lot more attention to her. The curious thing about her political stance is if there is a bigger picture to this.

There are a lot of celebrities who suddenly become political and within the blink of an eye announce that they are running for office. It’s a common trick in the book.

It’s still three years to the next general elections maybe our dear actress wants to have an early start in her run for a political office, or just maybe she is really concerned about the state of the country. Only time will reveal her intentions.
