George Clooney's famous wife says she doesn't see herself as a celebrity, even though she's married to a Hollywood superstar.

Amal Clooney , 37, told NBC host, Cynthia McFadden this week in Washington D.C, where the high human rights lawyer met with Congressional officials to draw attention to the political crisis in the Maldives, that  she doesn't compare herself with celebs like Angelina Jolie but is impressed with the work celebs do to raise awareness on several serious issues affecting the world.

McFadden says to Amal, "Many years ago, said to me that she was — she understood that she was gonna get attention. And if she could use all of that light and energy that was coming towards her and turn it around — I mean, is that how you feel about the celebrity?"

“I think it’s wonderful celebrities would choose to spend their time or energy or, you know, the spotlight that they have to raise awareness about these causes," says Amal, before insisting, "I don’t really see myself in the same way because I’m still doing the same job that I used to do before. If there’s more attention paid for whatever reason to that, then I think that’s good.”

Amal lets out a slight laugh when McFadden says she "knows the reason," and goes on to say, "You know, I think there is a certain responsibility that comes with that. I think I’m exercising it in an appropriate manner by continuing to do this kind of work.”

She adds that she’s only “engaging with the media on issues that I think are important."
