Twenty-six Nigerian students have each been awarded N375,000 scholarships by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Sixteen of the awardees are from Bauchi states while the remaining 10 are from Cross River states.
According to a Daily Trust report, the scholarships were awarded to help the students get a university diploma in nursing education as part of its efforts to enhance the ability of front line health workers to improve health in Nigeria.
The students are expected to become tutors on completion of their one-year studies in nursing and midwifery, with the ultimate aim of helping health training institutions get accreditation from regulatory agencies in Nigeria
WHO also donated equipment, including ICT facilities, demonstration equipment and three 32-seater buses each to nursing schools in both states.
