had on Tuesday reported that three students were killed in the accident that occurred along the Nsukka-9th Mile Expressway, involving a tanker, two commercial buses and a motorcycle.

The Enugu State Police Command, DSP Ebere Amaraizu, in a Tuesday statement had said "three persons have been confirmed dead while five others sustained various degrees of injuries."

“The auto crash involved a diesel truck with registration number AWK 311 XB, which is believed to have lost control as a result of suspected brake failure and hit two buses with registration numbers UWN 406 XA and UWN 57 XA and also a motorcycle,” he added.

But recent reports state that over students lost their lives.

Eyewitnesses say the two 14 buses, owned by Peace Mass Transit, were loaded with passengers, many of whom were UNN students going home after a directive by the management forced them out of the institution that same day.

Considering that an average bus has about 14 passengers, it is possible that the rumoured figures are true.

Meanwhile, the management has identified one of the victims in a Wednesday statement.

She has been identified as Anatogu Nkolika Sylvia, a 300 Level Veterinary Medicine student.
