Borno awards N3.6bn contract for world-class state university

Borno state is on its way to owning a new state university with the award of a N3.6bn contract for the construction of five faculties and Senate building at its proposed State University.

The state Governor, Kashim Shettima, while speaking at an interactive session with stakeholders held in Maiduguri, said the university will be 'world class' when completed.

“Our plan is to establish a world-class university that can stand the test of time in all ramifications because anything worth doing is worth doing well," Shettima said.

"We are not interested in establishing a glorified secondary school as the case is in most state universities.

"We want to set up a university that has befitting physical structures and standard facilities that can be addressed as truly world-class."

The governor said the university is expected to be completed by the end of the the year after which the state government would seek for accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
