This news comes after the pontiff accepted an invitation of visit was issued by Nawaz Sharif, Prime minister of Pakistan.

Reports say the invitation was sent to the Pope through Kamran Michael, Ports and Shipping Minister and the only Christian person in the current government.

"It is true that Pope has accepted the invitation and the dates of the trip will be finalised by mutual consultation," an official of religious ministry said.

Read: Adeboye meets with BuhariAccording to the reports the Pope accepted the invitation because he would like to meet the minority Christian community in the country.

The official visit day is yet to be mentioned.
