Gyan had come out earlier to say that they gave their best for the Gold Coast and had a bunch of younger players who were willing to die for the country, however, the Al Ain striker has apologized for the disappointing outing which saw Ghana fail to advance to the next stage for the first time since Germany 2006.

"We went to a tournament to make the nation proud but things didn't happen.''

Gyan who was alleged to have threatened to attack a journalist shortly after the loss to Portugal in their last group game further stated: "All I have to say is sorry to all Ghanaians for our performance.

"I won't say it's good to be back. But we just have to just focus on our next assignment," Gyan expressed on the team's arrival at the Airport.
