The Registrar of the University of Ilorin, Mr Emmanuel Obafemi, said more than 7,000 bed-spaces in the institutionās hostels were available for occupation by fresh and returning students.
Obafemi disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking with newsmen at the University.
He explained that no fewer than 7000 students would have access to accommodation this session, compared to the 3000 that secured on-campus accommodation in the last academic session.
He said the University managementās drive to ensure that all students secured comfortable hostel accommodation within the campus had started yielding results.
He said that more hostels were being constructed by private developers āwho feel the pain of the studentsā.
On the number of candidates the institution planned to admit for the 2016/2017 academic session, the Registrar disclosed that the university had the capacity to admit about 10,000 candidates only.
According to him, the management of the University was determined to admit more candidates but that the directive from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the guidelines of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) allowed for 10,000, only.
