Jelks who beat the likes of Obinna Metu, Ogho-oghene Egwero to the 100m title at the 64 All Nigeria Athletics Championship held in Calabar disclosed that it is a privilege to run for the United States, stating however, that it is better a privilege to represent his fatherland, Nigeria.

The 30 year-old Jelks switched Allegiance to Nigeria after he was found guilty of using an enhancement substance and subsequently banned by the American anti-doping agency USDA.

Jelks whose paternal great-grand father was born Warri, will be representing Nigeria in Glasgow 2014 100m and 4x100m Men’s relay; the Nigerian relay team is to be coached by former American Olympic gold medallist Maurice Greene.
