The Giants ran out 22-0 victors the last time the sides met, in a performance Cas coach Daryl Powell described as the worst he had seen during his time at the club.

By half-time it appeared as though a repeat drubbing may be on the cards at the Jungle.

Craig Huby opened the scoring with a try against his former club, before Aaron Murphy extended the lead after touching down in the corner - the television match official confirming the try was good.

Jake Webster powered over for the hosts to reduce the arrears, but Huddersfield went into the break 18-4 ahead when Ukuma Ta'ai barged over from close range shortly after coming off the bench.

Castleford roared back in the second half, and after having an earlier effort ruled out, Ben Roberts crossed for a converted try in the 47th minute and Michael Shenton's score brought the match within two points with 14 minutes left on the clock.

But Paul Anderson's Giants made it five matches unbeaten when Eorl Crabtree's 74th-minute score was awarded by the TMO after suggestions he was short of the line.
