Michael Phelps will be returning into the pool after a six months ban on him by the American Swimming Association for a second DUI offence in September last year.
The 29 year-old looked to have moved on from the romance rumour between him and transexual 'lover' Miss Chandler Taylor, as he announced his engagement to former Miss California, Nicole Johnson.
The couple have been on and off the official relationship status for some time now.
The 18-time Olympic champion wrote on twitter: 'She said yes,' with a photo of them both hugging in the snow.
His sister Hillary also wrote on Facebook: 'CONGRATULATIONS to these two lovebirds on their engagement! Couldn't be happier for my brother and thrilled to gain a sister, who I adore and love already!'
Phelps will return to the sport from March 6 when the six months ban elapses.
He is banned from the 2015 Summer championships in Russia.
