Harvin, 26, managed just three games for the Seahawks last season after battling back from hip surgery and also concussion, but he played a pivotal role in helping the franchise win their first NFL championship.

He gained 50 yards in the first quarter of Super Bowl XLVIII via two rushes and a catch, before delivering an 87-yard kick-off return touchdown to start the second half as he helped the Seahawks to a 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos.

However, a thigh problem early in the 2014 season has plagued the former first-round draft pick, despite seeing him participate in all five of Seattle's fixtures.

It has been reported the Seahawks received a conditional 2015 draft pick in return, expected to be between the second and fourth rounds.

The Seahawks had only brought Harvin to Seattle prior to the 2013 season from the Minnesota Vikings, signing him on a six-year, $67million contract.

In defence of their championship, Seattle have a 3-2 record to sit third in the NFC West division.

Conversely, the Jets won their season opener before losing six straight games to be clear bottom of the AFC East.
