The Minnesota Timberwolves point guard was officially ruled out for the rest of the season on Saturday by coach Flip Saunders as a result of the ankle injury Rubio suffered on March 15.

Rubio played in the Wolves' March 18 game against the Toronto Raptors, but has been inactive since.

Rubio already missed a large chunk of the NBA 2014-15 season from a badly sprained left ankle in November.

The injury occurred 10 days after he signed a four-year, $55million contract with the Timberwolves.
