While many hope that the star man gets better than he is, deep down in our hearts, there’s a slow seed of despair, confirming what we already know: “Jos To The World” will be lather, rinse, and repeat.

When the last track off Ice Prince’s album rolled off in October 2014, few had predicted the growth of the rapper to this level. An album which received damning reviews among critics, FOZ confirmed what many had suspected – that the rapper preferred to sing than put his mind to rap.

The year is 2016, and Ice Prince is ready for another album. The rapper is working on another LP “Jos To The World”, which would be his third album. Prior to that he dropped a controversial body of work, “Trash Can EP”. Which also received not-so-stellar reviews. Ice Prince ought to be the most popular rapper with a huge number of dismal reviews. Critics hold dear the opinion that the rapper hasn’t lived up to his lyrical potential, as he chooses to find sanctuary in pop sounds, than rap tracks. And when he does go down that route, he comes out as unsatisfactory.

What Ice Prince knows how to make are hit songs. That’s the bread and butter of his art, and he does it well. Currently, his track ‘Boss’ resides on every playlist. On “Fire of Zamani”, he had ‘Gimme Dat’, and ‘Aboki’.

Another element of Ice Prince’s art, and perhaps his most defining characteristic is his swag and fashion taste. Ice Prince dresses like he just stepped out of a high budget music video. From designer kicks to suave jackets, the rapper always has his branding game on, and that has immensely been a great part of his career. The way he dresses, you might think Ice Prince’s success key is to “Dress until they properly address you”.

The new project “Jos To The World” presents another chance for the rapper to come through with new materials. The rapper recently did begin to make updates on social media with the title hashtag, and one of such updates show him in the studio, presumably working on some new material. Also present were Yung L, Poe, and DJ Spinall. The creative process is on, and new music has begun to be recorded.

Expectations are high for the singer. The most iconic photograph in the Nigerian entertainment industry has Ice Prince and Jay Z, side by side, having a moment. So also, the rapper is being branded as a boss, who is worthy of an executive position at Chocolate City, and runs his personal record label, Super Kool Kats. An album from this man has to tick all the right boxes.

While many hope that the star man gets better than he is, deep down in our hearts, there’s a slow seed of despair, confirming what we already know: “Jos To The World” will be lather, rinse, and repeat. After all, everybody loves Ice Prince.
