Research:

Always carry out a proper research. Online marketing requires search engine friendly tools such as keywords. Always use relevant words and phrases because they can connect you to your target consumers.

Know about merchant customer services and read reviews from other affiliates to see customer rating as this determines if it’s one to venture into. Also, take time to study their average order size, Payment threshold, commission rate, cookie length as well as their terms and conditions.

Take Action:

Don’t allow research stop your productivity. Many affiliate marketers read so much blogs and web articles which pops up online without even applying actions. It is always important to know the basic but then action needs to be taken as you can’t know it all without trying.

Do be patient:

It can take up to six months to develop meaningful traction through your affiliate program, so don’t be discouraged if results don’t come right away. A lot of the legwork is upfront. However, the rewards come over a multi-year period.

Don’t fool your readers:

Don’t try to trick your readers into clicking on links that will make you money. The only thing that you will achieve by doing this, is that you will lose readers! Never promote something that you wouldn’t feel comfortable giving to your kid or grandparent.

Don’t market only popular products:

You always want to market quality, but quality does not necessarily mean popularity. Popular products have a lot of people trying to sell them that you’ll have to compete against for sales. Sometimes, you just will not make money in this situation.

Don’t run too many programs:

It’s always advisable to focus on a few campaigns and avoid having to many which might limit your work and productivity. Many believe that more programs equals more income but the key is focus and attention.

Don’t spend too much on promotion:

Many affiliate marketers spend so much on social media promotion and pay per click advertising. This often happens when you are trying to promote very popular products. It is always best to avoid too much promotion this sometime doesn’t give return on investment.

There’s really no rule but it’s always safe to keep these in mind.
