Garcia, who married the Purple Rain singer in 1996, will be releasing the book in April 2017 on the anniversary of Prince's death entitled The Most Beautiful, a reference to his hit song The MostBeautiful Girl In The World, which was inspired by Garcia herself.

The story will span "[their] unconventional meeting backstage at a concert (and the long-distance romance that followed), to their fairy-tale wedding (and their groundbreaking artistic partnership), to the devastating loss of their children that ultimately dissolved their romantic relationship for good," publisher Hachette said in a statement.

The book will include, the publisher's statement added, 'never-before-seen letters, photos, and memorabilia'.

"Prince was loved the world over but few knew him intimately," Garcia said. "And ours was a rare, almost otherworldly connection. I want to share our love story, and with it the highs and lows–always coming from a loving place, as this man is still part of my family and always will be."

Garcia, who divorced the star in 2000, will release her memoir in April 2017.

She gave birth to a son in October 1996 but he died within a week after being born with Pfeiffer syndrome. She also later suffered a miscarriage.

Prince tragically passed away from a fentanyl overdose on April 21 of a drug overdose. He was 57.
