South Africa lock Pieter-Steph du Toit is set to miss the Rugby World Cup after sustaining a knee injury in Sharks' Super Rugby victory over Cheetahs on Saturday.

Du Toit twisted his knee in a tackle during his side's 29-10 triumph in Bloemfontein and it was revealed on Monday that the 22-year-old has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
The injury is expected to keep Du Toit out for the rest of the year, so his hopes of playing a part in the Springboks' bid to be crowned world champions are almost certainly over.
A ligament tear to the same knee kept Du Toit out of the majority of the 2014 season.
