Former Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt is among those to have been handed a wildcard for this year's competition.

Lleyton Hewitt has been handed a wildcard for Wimbledon, although former British number one Laura Robson will need to wait for an invite to the grass-court slam.

Former champion Hewitt is to retire after the Australian Open next year and skipped the French Open in order to prepare for Wimbledon and the Davis Cup.

Hewitt - Wimbledon winner in 2002 - was handed a wildcard for the ongoing Aegon Championships but was knocked out by Kevin Anderson on Monday.

The former world number one now looks ahead to SW19 having been handed a wildcard alongside British trio Liam Broady, Kyle Edmund and James Ward, as well as France's Nicolas Mahut.

Injury-plagued Briton Robson will return to action for the first time since the 2014 Australian Open when she competes in qualifying for the Aegon International in Eastbourne this weekend.

Compatriots Johanna Konta and Naomi Broady have been invited, as well as Anett Kontaveit and Jelena Ostapenko, with four competitors left to be selected in the women's competition.
