Philippe Saint-Andre targets final with France
Philippe Saint-Andre will only consider the Rugby World Cup to have been a success for France if they reach the final.
Les Bleus have proved to be dark horses at the tournament on more than one occasion in the past, reaching the final in 1987, 1999 and four years ago in New Zealand.
Many consider France as outsiders once again for the Webb Ellis Trophy and they could face a 2011 final rematch with overwhelming favourites the All Blacks in the quarter-finals.
Head coach Saint-Andre accepts that France are not seen among the favourites, but is targeting a strong run regardless.
"The goal is to play a great World Cup. [It means] coming back home in November. [It means finishing] first or second," he told L'Equipe.
"We're not favourites but we have what it takes to beat any team on one game."
France play Italy in their opening match on Saturday, looking to win a third straight fixture for the first time since 2012.
