Corey Oates helped himself to a double as Brisbane Broncos returned to form with a 30-10 win that all-but ends sorry South Sydney Rabbitohs' slim hopes of reaching the NRL finals.

The Broncos had lost six of their previous eight matches before heading to ANZ Stadium on Saturday, but outscored the Bunnies by five tries to two to secure a first victory in three and take a stride towards sealing a top-eight finish.

South Sydney were low on confidence after losing five in a row and Wayne Bennett's side took advantage, with Lachlan Maranta going over in the corner for an early try.

A converted Luke Keary try brought Michael Maguire's men level, but the Broncos responded with scores from Ben Hunt and Oates converted by Jordan Kahu to put the visitors 18-6 to the good at the break.

Brisbane remained on top after the interval and James Roberts scored a brilliant solo try before Oates dotted down again, with Anthony Milford adding the extras on both occasions.

Cody Walker added a second try for the Bunnies, but that was no consolation as the 2014 Premiers languish down in 13th spot, while the Broncos are up to fifth.

Daly Cherry-Evans' 84th-minute drop-goal gave Manly Sea Eagles a 15-14 golden-point victory over New Zealand Warriors earlier in the day.

Bunty Afoa scored a brace of tries in torrential rain after converted scores from Tom Trbojevic and Jorge Taufua had put Manly 12-0 up, but Cherry-Evans had the final say.
