The Norwegian held a narrow 20-point margin over second-placed Hannes Reichelt heading into the final event of the season, but ends it 94 points clear at the summit.

Jansrud had the benefit of going after Reichelt, whose run of one minute and 41.66 seconds was only enough to secure a 10th-placed finish.

Man-of-the-moment Jansrud did not hold back, though, as he shaved eight tenths of a second off his rival's time to push Didier Defago into second.

Georg Streitberger (+0.31secs) rounded off the podium.

Jansrud's win sees him close within 64 points of leader Marcel Hirscher in the overall World Cup standings.

"It has been a good fight," he is quoted as saying by TV2. "It has been exciting since Reichelt has been good in the past.

"I felt a bit of pressure and was nervous before the start. I thought Reichelt was quick, so I just had to attack.

"He is a very nice guy and has the same relationship to the sport as me. He likes to compete and take a fight, but if he does not win then he takes it very nicely and wishes me all the best."

Jansrud will be keen to further boost his overall chances in the final round of the super-G on Thursday.
