St Louis Rams receiver Stedman Bailey has been hospitalised after being involved in an incident on Tuesday.

The Rams said in a statement issued early on Wednesday they were aware of Bailey's situation.

"We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition," the statement read.

"We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more."

The 25-year-old, who has 12 catches for 182 yards and a touchdown this season, is serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL policy for substance abuse.
