World reacts to deadliest incident since 1990

The Hajj stampede which occurred in Mina, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, September 24, 2015, has claimed 717 lives and is the deadliest since 1990.

The incident occurred while two million pilgrims were participating in the rite of “stoning the devil.”

In 1990, 1,426 pilgrims were trampled to death in a stampede in a pedestrian tunnel outside of the holy city, Mecca.
