Real Madrid star frowns as he is beaten again by his rival

After beating Lionel Messi to the FIFA Ballon D'or earlier in the year, Cristiano Ronaldo has been losing to his rival since then.

He lost the La Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League titles to Messi who alongside his Barcelona teammate won another historic treble as Ronaldo and his Real Madrid teammates went trophyless.

Yesterday, Thursday, August 27 Ronaldo was beaten by his rival again to the UEFA Best Player In Europe award.

The expression on Ronaldo's face when Messi was announced as the winner said it all-the Portuguese forward was clearly not happy he lost the award.

Messi scored 58 goals and provided 31 assists as Barcelona won the treble.  His Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez who scored crucial second goal in the 3-1 final win over Juventus came second while Ronaldo finished third.

Messi is the first player to win the award twice-he won the the inaugural award in 2011.

The four time FIFA Ballon D'or winner also won the UEFA Best Goal Award with his solo goal against Bayern Munich goal last season.

The goal was scored during the semi-final game between Barcelona and Bayern Munich at the Nou Camp.

The goal went on to become a social media sensation.
