When asked if the Game of Thrones ending will influence the outcome of the book series, he simply said: "No, it doesnt. It doesnt change anything at all... You cant please everybody, so youve got to please yourself."

Martin didn't comment on the controversial way the show ended, saying that he removed himself from the online discourse while the last season was airing, but he did hint that a few of those fan theories might come to pass in future books: "Some of [the theories] are right and some of [the theories] are wrong. Theyll find out when I finish."
