Although Alessandro Michele has only taken over at Gucci for a year, he’s already been able to put a spin on the house’s staples. Floral patterns have been a Gucci signature from inception.

However, Michele takes things a notch higher, giving us vibrant prints worn head to toe for a look laced with romanticism and visual power. From the runway to editorials, Gucci’s flower designs have been irresistible, but only a few have dared to pull off the style.

Wearing a non-traditional suit covered in ‘strange patterns’ might seem challenging initially, but all it just takes some time. Here are the rules to make the look your own:

Don’t trade off tailoring:

Tailoring is key with any suit, however, when you’re pulling off an eye popping pattern, it becomes necessary. Take that extra effort to see a tailor. It will do you a world of good.

You should tone it down:

While you may feel it best to go all out and pair your blossomy blazer with a transparent lace shirt and fur loafers, know that less is more. A simple one tone button-down makes the suit the focal point.

Or stay adventurous:

A floral suit is naturally playful, as no one can feel serious while in poppies and roses. When choosing accessories, it may be nice to get fancy. Anything with serious bling or dramatic flares will do.

Chop it up:

Your pink flowery blazer will look just as beautiful when combined with jeans or a skirt, and the same applies to corresponding flared pants. No one says you have to wear both pieces of your suit at the same time.
