With just six games to go, Leicester City are in the cusp of a first league title in their over 100 years of existence and the Mayor of the city has revealed that the players will be having street named after them if they achieve that.

A civil reception in the Town Hall Square was organised in 2014 when Leicester won promotion to the Premier League but the mayor,  Sir Peter Soulsby thinks a bigger ceremony will be held in their honour if they win the title.

“Town Hall Square will not be big enough this time,” Peter Soulsby said.

“Leicester has honoured its sporting stars in the past. There is an area named after golfers and there is also a Lineker Road.

“It has been a real team effort, so as well as Vardy Vale we would need to have Schmeichel Street, Drinkwater Drive and Ranieri Road.”
