Manchester City star leads Flying Eagles squad to FIFA U-20 World Cup

After persistent doubts over his availability for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, Manchester City star, Kelechi Iheanacho has been named in the Flying Eagles squad to New Zealand.

The 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup MVP leads the list of 21 players selected by Flying Eagles’ Head Coach Manu Garba (OON) for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

has released a list of 21 players who will wear the nation’s colours at this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup finals in New Zealand.

Skipper Musa Muhammed, who led the U-17 squad that won for Nigeria a record fourth FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in 2013, also in the list.

Others selected for the World Cup include Taiwo Awoniyi, Success Isaac and Moses Simon.

The Flying Eagles will face Brazil in their first match on Monday, June 1 before tackling North Korea and Hungary in  the other Group E games.

Having won silver medals at the U-20 World Cup in 1989 and 2005, the Flying Eagles will be looking to go a step further in New Zealand.
