Janet Jackson is making a return to music with a new album and a supporting world tour.
"I promised you'd hear it from my lips and now you will," she said. "This year: new music; new world tour; a new movement. I've been listening. Let's keep the conversation going."
Accompanied by the hashtag #ConversationsInACafe, fans began to speculate that it was a reference to the title of Jackson's forthcoming project.
Last year, rumors began to swirl that Jackson was in the studio working on a new album. An interview with the singer's longtime vocal producer/engineer, Ian Cross, initially sparked the guesswork.
"The new album is going to be great," Cross said. "It's a process. There's a lot in store, yet to come. I can't go into too many details but I think Janet Jackson's fans are going to be very excited about the new album, and I think people who don't know her as fans are going to be excited about it, too."
Jackson wrote on Twitter denying the announcement: "If there is a new project, you'll hear it from my lips."
Jackson's last release was 2008's ‘, which featured hits like ‘Rock With U’ and ‘Feedback’.
