Leicester City fan to name his son after striker

To celebrate the striker’s feat, a Leicester City fan Ashley Marriott has convinced his partner to name their unborn child after the striker.

Marriott says he is doing it to pay tribute to the striker who has been one of Leicester City key players.

"I've got a daughter on the way and we're naming her after Vardy as a middle name," Marriott told .

To persuade his partner, he had to get 5,000 petition signatures from fans.

"That was done weeks ago, it was well over 5,000 - so it's definitely on. Her and her family are all Spurs fans so it's good for me!" he said,

"I wish [it was Jamie]. But I don't think with even half a million signatures she would agree to that, even though it's a unisex name!"
