A 19-year-old candidate, Oloruntoba Ogunfolaji, has scored straight A1 grades in eight subjects to emerged the best scholar in the 2013 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Ogunfolaji who scored a total grade of 666.6525 in the eight subjects he sat for, was honoured alongside two other candidates with excellent results.
The other honorees, both females, are Ifeoluwapo Fasola from Oyo state and Maureen Anyanwu from Imo state.
The trio all scored straight A1 grades in all subjects, including the required English Language and Mathematics, but Ogunfolaji's cummulative 666.6525 score beat theirs.
Ogunfolaji sat for the WASSCE as a student of the Sacred Heart Catholic College, Abeokuta, Ogun State, with examination number 4280232/098.
His school automatically becomes the winner of the , awarded to the school that produces the best male candidate in the May/June 2013 WASSCE.
In 2010, Ogunfolaji won the overall best in Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) with 9 As and 4Cs.
He has also won other awards.
Student Pulse gathered that Ogunfolaji is now a student of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ibadan (UI), Oyo State.
