Micheal Babatunde Reveals Sunderland Interest

Two Nigerian players to the World Cup may be reaping the fruitfulness of a sterling performance for Nigeria at the World Cup, midfielder Michael Babatunde, who has sprung interests from several clubs, reportedly Sunderland leading the chase for the 21 year-old combative midfielder.

The player confirmed the interests from the various clubs and his desire for the Stadium of Light, home of Sunderland FC.

“I have received several offers from different places, but I’m interested in the one from Sunderland. They have contacted my agent, and we will see how it goes from there.

“There are about two offers from clubs in Turkey as well, which are both under consideration and will be discussed at the right time.”

Babatunde also spoke on his future at present , disclosing that he might the club:  “I’m probably going to leave Volyn. We have to discuss the offers on ground but most likely, I will be leaving this summer.”

It has been revealed that scouts were present to watch Nigeria's games at the 2014 World Cup, Babatunde happened to be one of the few that impressed the club scouts, despite playing just two games.
