Crystal Palace youngster Michael Akpovie Olise is reportedly set to dump the Super Eagles of Nigeria and commit his international future to the Three Lions of England.

Olise has been the subject of a four-way tug of war between Nigeria, England, France, and Algeria on which country he would represent in senior international football.

According to Daily Mail, England is poised to win that battle, largely due to the English national team manager Gareth Southgate giving assurances to Olise on his role and importance within the Three Lions set-up.

Olise was born in London, England to a Nigerian father and a French-Algerian mother, giving him the possibility of appearing for any of the four countries.

The Crystal Palace midfielder has represented the French U18 side in the past, with his last appearance for the young Les Bleus coming in June 2019.

Olise was also invited by former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr for the last round of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), though he was placed on the standby list and has not been called up since then.

The former Chelsea Academy player secured an £8m move from Reading FC to Crystal Palace in June 2021 after impressing with the Championship side over two senior seasons.

The 20-year-old has also posted impressive figures in his debut season in the English Premier League, already racking up four (4) goals and eight (8) assists in 25 appearances in all competitions this season.
