Omanyala is ranked No 3 in the 100m this season worldwide, having run 9.85s at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Kenya in May 2022. He set the African 100m record of 9.77s at the same event in September 2021.

The 25-year-old's personal best of 9.77s makes him the eighth-fastest man on earth and the only African athlete on the list. He has once stated that he aims to break Usain Bolt's world record of 9.58s.
