"Suicide Squad" actor joins "Blade Runner" sequel

Jared Leto has joined Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling for the upcoming sequel to 1982 "Blade Runner" movie.

Currently popular for his role as Joker in "Suicide Squad," the Academy winner joins Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Lennie James and Dave Bautista.

To be directed by Denis Villeneuve and executive produced by Ridley Scott, its 1982 original movie is considered one of the greatest science-fiction film of all time.

Harrison Ford who starred in the 1982 sci-fi film will reprise his character as replicant hunter.

The original film starred Ford alongside Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos, and a modified film adaptation of the 1968 novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick.

About original movie

The film depicts a dystopian Los Angeles in which genetically engineered replicants, which are visually indistinguishable from adult humans, are manufactured by the powerful Tyrell Corporation.

The film will be released by Warner Bros. in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute in all media for all overseas territories.

Originally scheduled for a January 12, 2018 release, the sequel has been moved up to  October 6, 2017.
