HBO's long-anticipated 'Game of Thrones' spin-off, 'House of the Dragon' has finally hitched release date.

The streaming platform confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday that the prequel will premiere exclusively on HBO Max on August 21.

 "August 21. #HouseoftheDragon," the tweet read alongside a new teaser poster and new images of the series' cast, some of which include: Paddy Considine who stars as King Viserys Targaryen, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Milly Alcock as Young Rhaenyra, Emily Carey as Young Alicent, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon and Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Targaryen.

The prequel will follow R.R. Martin's novel of the same title. Set before the events in the fan-favourite series 'Game of Thrones', the story follows the 300-year reign of House Targaryen.
