Striker given no. 9 shirt at Liverpool

New LiverpoolChristian Benteke has been handed the famous No 9 shirt ahead of the season.

Liverpool captured the Belgian for £32.5million from Aston Villa.

Benteke opened this goal scoring chart on his debut with a stunning volley in Liverpool's 2-1 win over Swindon.

"Confirmed: @bentekechris20 is #LFC's new No.9," a cpmment on Liverpool 's official Twitter account reads.

The 24-year-old joins the likes of Kop legends Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler to have worn the squad number.
