The BBC released a list of five players in contention for its annual African Footballer of the year award

The award which is the only second in the world that recognizes the prowess of African players based in Europe is in its 15 edition after it first debuted in 2000

For the 2014 awards, Nigeria’s goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is again nominated alongside current holder Yaya Toure, Ivory Coast and AS Roma attacker, Gervinho and Algeria forward, Yacine Brahimi who all have been nominated in the 2014 GLO-CAF Awards

The last on the list of nominees is Gabon and Borussia Dortmund player, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Previous winners of this prestigious award include former Super Eagles skipper Jay-Jay Okocha (twice), who is the first and only to have so far won it two times consecutively

Voting for who emerges winner of the award is open online to computer users and mobile users by text

The 2014 BBC African player of the year will be announced on December 1
