Odunayo Adekuoroye wins gold in wrestling women’s 57kg event

Odunayo Adekuoroye was victorious for Nigeria in the women’s 57kg wrestling freestyle event, as she defeated India’s of the Pooja Dhanda in the final.

Adekuoroye defeated her rival by (7-5) points, the victory means she successfully defended her medal won at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Blessing Oborodudu wins gold in wrestling women's 68 kg event

Blessing Oborodudu defeated Canada’s Danielle Lappage in the women’s 68kg wrestling freestyle event.

Oborodudu came from behind to defeat her Canadian counterpart on points (4-3), to claim another gold for Nigeria.

Amas Daniel wins gold in wrestling Men's Freestyle 65 kg event

Amas Daniel won a bronze medal for Team Nigeria in the men's freestyle 65 kg event.

Daniel defeated Canada’s Vincent De Marinis  3-1 on points.

Also in the men's wrestling event Soso Tamarau could not emulate his compatriot Daniel as he lost his bronze medal match to Cyprus Alexios Kaouslidis 2-1.

Medals from Adekuoroye, Oborodudu and Daniel mean that the wrestling team now have a total of six medals, after a silver and two bronze medals in Day 8.

Nigeria's medal haul at the the 2018 Commonwealth Games has now risen to a total of 17.
