Super Eagles captain warms up for Zambia with an assist in Tianjin TEDA win
Mikel registered an assist for Tianjin TEDA in their 4-1 home win over Guizhou Hengfeng in the Chinese Super League (CLS) to give their relegation fight a boost.
Making his ninth appearance of the season, the Tianjin TEDA captain assisted Liyu Yang in the 88th minute for their third goal in the win.
Diagne opened goal in the 61st minute before Ghanaian midfielder Frank Acheampong made it 2-0 in the 80th minute.
Guizhou Hengfeng pulled one goal back through former Everton striker Nikica Jelavic in the 85th minute before they scored an own goal through Jie Wang in the in the 92nd minute.
Tianjin now have 22 points and are 14th in the 16-team league with just four games left.
With no game this weekend, Mikel will arrive Nigeria on Saturday, September 30 for the Super Eagles game against Zambia a week later.
