It is not appropriate for Pastors to get divorced,Here is why
Based on the poll I conducted yesterday ‘should pastors get divorced?’ 100% of those who read the post stated clearly that Pastors should never get divorced.
‘Pepple Ibama’ a facebook user said, “ In my own opinion "NO", because after divorce what next? How would they counsel their married congregation in the church? though only God can help everyone out of temptation, but they are representatives of God so they need to put it together”
David Ropo another Facebook user said, “No, because they are role models.”
Nigerian Pastors who have gone down the divorce lane includes Chris Oyakhilome Founding Pastor of Believers Loveworld Ministries AKA Christ Embassy, Chris Okotie, Pastor of the Household of God Church International Ministries.
In my opinion, though we are all humans, and no one is perfect but with the sensitivity and influence of the position they hold, Imitation can’t be contained.
The continuous need for marriage counselling and conducting Holy matrimony cannot be waived.
The grave effect it would have on their children and also the youths of that church or parish cannot be denied.
Asides from Pastors, we as Christians should stand firm on the word of God.
Though, Some have translated verses in their favour, for reasons of Greed and adultery but didn’t you say 'For better or worse.'
Lack of understanding, communication and honesty is the beginning of Marital problems.
I urge you as Christians to Pray to God for Understanding and wisdom in your Marriage.
