First Lady takes 'cabal' shot at President on Twitter

The First Lady shared a series of videos on her social media accounts that were critical of the president.

On her official account , the First Lady shared videos of a plenary session of the Senate where Senator Isa Misau claimed that the president is not in charge of the country.

In one video, Senator Misau was addressing the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, about the disorganised state of the country's governance.

He said, "It's as if he (Buhari) not in charge. It's as if some people are the ones in charge of this country. Even the DG NIA that we're talking about, they said some people in the cabal are the ones who appointed that person to be there.

"The leadership of this National Assembly should go and have one-on-one talk with the president."

In the second video shared by the First Lady, Senator Misau slammed the president's ineffectual role in checking his cabinet that's full of incompetent people. He urged the National Assembly to prevail on the president to get a grip on the affairs of the country.

Previous criticism from First Lady

The content of the videos shared by the Aisha on Friday echoes her very public criticism of the president's administration in 2016.

During an interview with BBC Hausa in 2016, the First Lady publicly dragged the president's competence through the mud when she claimed that his administration had been hijacked by a cabal.

She said, "The President does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don't know them either despite being his wife for 27 years.

"Some people are sitting down at their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or ministerial position.

"Some of them don't even have voters card, and those who made sacrifice have been reduced to nothing and certainly not happy with the way things are going."

She further threatened that if the situation was not rectified by the president, she would not "go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before."

In response to the criticism, President Buhari had dismissed the First Lady by 'joking' that she belongs "to my kitchen and my living room and the other room."
