Vice President Yemi Osinbajo announced the approval of the release of N2 billion for the take-off of Maritime University, Okerenkoko in Delta state.

The Vice President revealed the approval at the 2nd National Council on Niger Delta meeting in Akure on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.

The opening of the institution is part of President Muhammadu Buhari's Niger Delta New Vision in line with the demands made by major stakeholders in the region.

People present at the meeting include Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani, the Minister of State, Niger Delta Affairs, Prof Claudius Daramola, and Sen. Victor Udoma, Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission.
